Visiting the Girls

I just thought I'd post a couple of pictures of the proud parents with their sweet little additions. On the left, Neil holding Evelyn. I wish I had one with him and Adia too, but she was relaxing in the bed at the time. He's such a sweet Daddy to the girls, my favorite is listening to him talk to them. Its so soft, and gentle. On the right, me, Evelyn in front and Adia with the binkie(she loves that binkie). This is actually the first time I got to hold both of them at the same time. It was quite amazing. I dare say it was the first time I actually realized that both of these precious little girls were mine, and that I was their mother.

Evelyn and Adia

Today has just been a wonderful day! Every morning the physician at the NICU calls me if there are any new updates with the girls. So this morning I got a phone call, it usually comes right about the time I'm getting ready to leave to go over there, anyway, he tells me that both of their bilirubin points were low enough that they didn't need the bili-lights anymore, so now they can have blankets, and wear clothes. He said that Adia's breathing was a lot less labored so she gets to be off oxygen for now. He also told me that they tolerating food very well, and that I could start doing "practice feedings". Which means I pump first and then take some time with each of the girls to have them practice breast feeding, so they can practice the suck, swallow, breath technique. So it just started out as a wonderful day! Then when I got to the hospital, it was about time to feed them, so I got right in to doing my first practice round. Much to my excitement, and the nurse's surprise, they took to it like it was nothing new! Neil and I are both so super excited. It's just amazing to see these 2 little girls grow and learn and progress right in front of our eyes.

Two Beautiful Girls!!

Our adorable little girls were born the morning of September the 23rd. Evelyn Mae weighed 3lbs 12oz, was 15.5 inches long, and was born at 6:06 am. Adia Ashley weighed 4lbs, was 16.5 inches long, and was born at 6:14 am. Here they are together under the bili-lights a couple days later, with Adia on the left, and Evelyn on the right. They were originally in separate beds, but a few days later they were moved into the same one. Since being put together they seem much more comfortable and content. Though they have to stay in the NICU for a while, and Mommy and Daddy ache to have them home,  we know they're in the best place they can be right now.

Getting Things Ready for Evelyn and Adia

A couple of weeks ago Neil and I went a picked some of the things we wanted to have for when the twins arrived. I enjoyed spending the Saturday with Neil and getting things ready. I didn't take any pictures, just video of him putting the pack 'n' play together, and the bouncey seat. The pack 'n' play video turned out really long so I didn't post it.

Just a Little Girl Time Fun

Hailee, Alesha, Janna, and I all decided we need to have one more girls' night of fun. Before Alesha left on her mission to North Carolina, Janna moved away to Arizona, and I had a baby(which later we found out was 2). So we chose our party place (Alesha's basement), gathered the essentials (popcorn, chips& cheese, twizzlers, and 2 or 3 chick flicks) and the fun began. We decided it was probably best to snap a few pictures before the fun began, because there was no telling what we'd look like at the end of the evening.

1st one on the list?

I think this one's the first anyhow. Now on to the blog. This is the Oler family blog. I've got to admit, if it weren't for a few geeky blogs I've learned a lot from by reading, I'd think this stuff was stupid. Maybe it's lacking a cool, epic intro.

WELCOME TO THE AWESOME BLOG OF THE OLERS! HEAR YE HEAR YE!

Nah. :) Anyhow, I'll try to post to this thing between school homework and workwork and what ever else (babies, band, lovely wifie, etc).
