An Awesome Technique

Today I decided I needed to run some errands, so I left Daddy with Evelyn and Adia. When I came home this was what I found. Quite smart if you ask me. Normally we just feed one at a time if there's only one set of hands, and most of the time one stays asleep longer then the other. But apparently both of them were hungry and awake, so Daddy being the smart guy that he is worked it out so they could both eat at the same time. I loved it, it was really cute.

So I got this off of Felicia's blog... she didn't tag anyone. But I liked it and I wanted to do it.

1. Where did you meet? We met when he came to get my roommate at my apartment. She wasn't home, I was ornery, I closed the door in his face. We were introduced a few nights later at my neighbors apartment, at a movie night.

2. How long did you date before you were married? 5 months

3. How long have you been married? 2 amazing years

4. What is one thing he does that surprises you? His homework, if it were mine it wouldn't get done.

5. What is your favorite feature about him? His smile, he has the other half of my dimples!

6. What is your favorite quality about him? He can make me laugh in just about any situation

7. Does he have a nickname for you? Oh sure, quite a few but sweetie seems to be only one I can remember at the moment

8. What is his favorite color? blue

9. What is his favorite food? pizza, he would eat it everyday if I let him

10. What is his favorite sport? He's not really into sports

11. Who said "I love you" first? He did, we were on the stairs at my building. I told him that was sweet and to please forgive me for not saying it back yet.

12. When and where was your first kiss? I think a week or so after we first met, he had told me he wanted to date me. The next night after a movie with a bunch of friends everybody left, it was just us left and we were talking and he put his hands on my cheeks and kissed me.

13. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? well, one of the things we would do before we had kids was we would see how big or how many treats we could sneak into the movies, we've gotten Sonic(drinks included), Betos(really messy, and hard to eat in the dark) and other odds and ends. His goal is to get a whole pizza in one day

14. Do you have any kids? 2 beautiful daughters

15. What is a hidden talent of his? He has an uncanny ability to turn anything and everything into a silly song(my favorite came around when we were waiting for the guy to call to do our taxes)

They Finally Came Home!!!

What a wonderful weekend!! Evelyn and Adia finally got to come home with us Saturday night. We are so excited. Its been quite the experience having them at the NICU, we are so happy they are home with us now. Above is a picture of them, Evelyn on the right Adia on the left, in their car seats before we left the hospital. They look so tiny compared to those giant car seats.

Playing with Daddy their first night home. They seems quite excited to be home too. Evelyn is still on a little bit of oxygen, but should only have it for about a month. Both Adia and Evelyn, are on monitors, which have an alarm that goes off if a heart rate gets to high or low, or they don't breath for more then 20 seconds. It also helps Neil and I breath a little easier.

Bundled up together. I think it is the sweetest thing to see how they always like to be facing each other. I love having them home! I love finally feeling like a family, and finally feeling like I can be a real mother. Although I do seem to worry more, but I've been told that that never goes away as a mom. I'm so proud of my little girls!

A Visit from Grandma and Grandpa May

Grandma and Grandpa May decided yesterday that it was time again to drive up and visit us. They were way excited when I told them they could hold Evelyn and Adia if they wanted to. Above Mom is holding Evelyn, below Dad has Adia. Shortly after snapping these photos Dad announced it was time to switch. It was great to spend time with them, and we are so grateful for the love, support, and encouragement they give. 

My Little Jail Birds

So I'd thought I'd post a picture of their new sleeping arrangements. Yes, I know it looks like a jail, or a cage. But it also means that the girls can regulate their own body heat. One of the things they need to be able to do before they can come home, so we were super excited for them to be moved into this bed. Their nurse Cheryl, tried to find one that wasn't so big but couldn't, and until I uploaded this picture I didn't even realize how huge it actually was. 

It's encouraging to see them take the steps and fill the requirements they need to , to be able to come home. I'm now breast feeding them 4 times a day, and they are starting to recognize hunger more and that they want to wake up to eat. They get baths every odd day and thats when they weigh them too. If I want to I can bring in little outfits I want them to wear, which is a relief because I was starting to worry if they would even fit into some of their outfits by the time they came home. Evelyn now weighs 4lbs 6oz, and Adia is 4lbs 12oz. Its amazing to watch them grow and learn a little everyday. 

Update About Adia and Evelyn

I just wanted to update everyone on Evelyn and Adia. They're doing awesome! I still get nurses that tell me how surprised they are that they're doing so well, and progressing so quickly, especially for how small they are. The picture above  is probably one of my favorites so far.
Daddy and his girls. This is Neil's first time getting hold both of his daughters at the same time. He was a little nervous at first but he got the hang of it. They got their IVs removed just a few days ago so its a little less tricky holding them, one less tube to worry about. Once the IVs are taken out its easier to keep track of how much they are getting from nursing.
Me and my girls. Just yesterday they were moved into Nursery B. Which is where they move the babies that are doing well, and only have to work on their feeding and weight gain. We are so excited because most babies after this point, once they get that down, get to go home. We love our little angels and ache to have them home with us. They are such little troopers and its been so fun to begin to see their little personalities begin to show.

1. The Gospel: If not for the gospel, family would be first on my list. But because of the gospel I can keep my family forever. What an amazing thing it is, and the peace it gives me to know that no matter how rough it gets down here everything will turn out alright.

2. My Family: I'm pretty sure I have the best family ever...mine, and the one I married into, extended and immediate. Friends are important, but no matter where I am, I know I have family that would drop everything and come to me if I needed them, and they have.

3. My Meil(Neil): Time has flown by since we've met, I can't comprehend how I went 19 years without this man that knows me inside and out. He's my best friend, he makes me laugh everyday, and I love that I don't feel dumb being silly with him, and that he'll be silly back. He supports me 100% in everything I want to achieve.

4. My Daughters: Up until recently, I could only imagine what it felt like to be a mom. But when I first held those sweet little girls, I was filled with a love I never knew existed. I love being a mom! I can't go more than a few hours of not seeing them before I start getting a literal ache in my heart for them. I know it'll be hard once they're home, but I am so super excited to not have to drive 10 minutes to look into their sweet little angel faces.

5. My Sisters: Its a party, a loud party, when we all get together. Full of slightly different versions of the same laugh. I'm so lucky to have them. I count down the days til the next get-to-together we have. They're always there, I love knowing that any comfort, advice, or just a simple sincere chat I need, is just a phone call away.

6. Hair: I have a blast doing hair. I loved going to school to get my license, and I love that 3 years later its still interesting, and it still makes me think. I love that no 2 haircuts are exactly the same, and that you never do the exact same color twice.

7. Music: Music is an amazing thing. I love to sing, I was in concert choir in high school, and loved it! I miss it, my singing voice is a little rusty. The only people that ever hear me sing now a days is my husband and my girls.

8. Crocheting, Sewing: I love crafty things like sewing, and crocheting. I enjoy making little things for my girls, or just for fun. I love the sense of accomplishment I feel when I finish a project.
