Dinner and Dancing

For the Gma and Gpa who are too far away to enjoy this first hand. We love you! And hope this helps at least a little bit with the distance.

What a Day!

Yesterday was my 24th birthday and as a bonus it was also a national holiday so I got to celebrate my birthday by spending the entire day with my amazing husband and two adorable daughters.
First thing in the morning I had an appointment but right after that I showered and got ready for the day.

We went to Winger's for lunch, one of my many favorites. I always find it a big plus when I don't have to clean up the lunch mess my kids make. Surprisingly they only left a few ranch drips and a couple of drink dribbles for the clean up crew(sheesh why can't they be this clean at home)

After lunch we decided to see Tangled, but apparently that was everybody's idea as well since nearly everybody had the day off. It was booked solid til about 9 o'clock that night, we weren't interested in seeing a late movie.

So we headed to go to the University Mall for a nice walk and some window shopping. It too was busy but not too over crowded. Window shopping is really quite entertaining with toddlers who get super excited about even the promotional decorations in each window.

After the stroll through the mall we stopped at Baskin Robbins for some ice cream on our way home. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I have an awesome husband. He smiled through it all in spite of not feeling well and being over stressed with school.

Above is photo of Liliana and I per several requests.

We finished the night off by putting the little lovelies in bed and since Neil wasn't feeling much like eating dinner I ordered take out from Zuppa's and we watched Unstoppable, a movie based off of actual events(I definitely recommend).
Then Neil sang me Happy Birthday and we went to bed.
It was such a great day! I'm so grateful for the wonderful little family I have and for the fun memories made yesterday and everyday.

My Hub

The man in my life is one of many talents.

He can figure out how to fix just about any electrical issue he might come up against.

He can make me smile if not laugh in any situation(even if it's entirely inappropriate).

He is an amazing father.

He can befriend anybody.

He has a beautiful voice.

He is an awesome musician...

Just to name a few

YouTube Video

Tonight he pulled out his acoustic guitar and just jammed, and I sat on the couch and listened. Loving it. I think he thought I was recording the girls as the danced around and demanded more "dance" every time he stopped playing.

I love you Neil, I'm in awe of you everyday. I'm so completely lucky to be your wife. Thank you for being who you are.

I don't know about anybody else's little girls but mine, mine get dressed, undressed, and dressed again several times a day.
I decided to take a few photos to catalog their many choices in wardrobe and accessories.

Eve: purse, diaper, boots(on the wrong feet)
Adi: diaper, one flip-flop, one sneaker

Adi: crazy mop hair, shirt, giant bib, empty packing tape roll, diaper, brown shoes(on the wrong feet)
Eve: spaghetti head, shirt, pull-up

Adi: pjs, giant bib
Eve: diaper, one sparkly cream slipper, and one mitten
Silly girls.

Dancing!

I was reading somewhere about toddler development and what I should expect or encourage, etc for kids around 2 1/2 year old. One thing that stuck out very clearly to me was that around this age is when the artistic development starts to kick in. Coloring, painting, singing, dancing, etc.

YouTube Video

My girls have always loved it when Daddy would dance around while holding them or they would ask me to sing to them. But until about a month they weren't very into it. Now they are trying to learn words to songs, asking to color, and spontaneously bursting into dance with one another. I LOVE it! This video features their buddy Finn who is the same age and a great friend they love to play with.

Twinners

Whenever I get to hang out with my family the conversation almost always goes to how our kids look similar to other members of the family.

This past weekend I spent Saturday at my parents and Felicia and her kids came and joined us. Almost as if it were on queue after having this specific conversation, we peek in on the kids and Adia and Kaylee are parked in the same chair looking very much like the same kid.

Videos?

So with my new toy I not only have the means to update my blog whenever I want but I also have the means to record video at any given opportunity. So my questions to what few readers I have are: Do you like the videos?
Do I post to many? Would you prefer more pictures instead of video? Your answers are greatly appreciated.

A project

So shortly after we got married we bought this couch from some friends for $50. The pillows it came with were a shimmery black with shiny multi-colored paint splashing pattern on them, very 80's.
Then almost exactly 3 years ago I decided to take on the project of recovering the pillows... a type of project I'd never attempted before. Needless to say they weren't the best looking pillows but they were far better looking then the old ones. Below are 2 of the 4 recovered pillows (sorry I'd already pulled apart the other 2 before I realized I wanted a before picture).

I've been wanting to replace those pillows for a while now, not recover, replace. They were ratty, coming apart at the seams, and the stuffing was old, flat, and dilapidated. I happened into Joan's Fabrics yesterday to realize they were having a huge 3 day sale, most of their fabrics were 50% off! Boy was I excited!

They only took a few hours to put together and I love them. Considering I have a few more years of experience under my belt with sewing, I believe they turned out quite well and almost exactly how I pictured them. Sorry you can't see them very well but each pillow has a different unique button in the center on both sides to tie them into the rest of the room decor.

I'm also toying with the idea of a fifth pillow perhaps. Or maybe a couple of smaller, more colorful accent pillows. What do you think?

Dinner with friends!

Today we had the opportunity to have some friends over for dinner, dessert, and lots of laughs and conversation. Wes and Lisa (Lisa served in Finland with Neil), Jason and Ellynn (they both served in Finland too. Ellynn and Lisa were companions) and Iina is from Finland and became good friends with them while they were there. She's been doing lots of traveling and we glad she made time to stop by and spend the evening with us.

Iina reading to Eve and Adi at the end of the night. It was pretty sweet how they warmed up to her.

Daddy is the Most Fun

One of the many things the girls love to do with their Daddy is when he rolls them around with his head. It always makes them laugh and I always get a kick out of it.

YouTube Video

Recently they started asking to roll him instead of the other way around. I finally got a chance to record it tonight while Neil and Adia played.

And more

Anyone notice a common theme in the things that make me smile.

I love being a mom!
